We have a large selection of Nepalese, Indian and Tibetan incense. These we have chosen from a huge selection as our favourites and we have found to be popular with our customers. Burning incense in Tibet, Nepal, India and most of the Asian countries is an everyday event.
The art of incense making dates back thousands of years. Indian incense usually is a bamboo stick upon which herbs suspended in gum are rolled. Tibetan and Nepalese incenses are 'dhoop' incenses which are made up large number of herbs suspended in gums and rolled and do not have the central bamboo stick.
Incense is used most commonly in homes and monastries for ceremony and space clearing. It is particularly potent in my memory when you visit the shop keeper at the start of his day and he is lighting the first incense and holding up to the picture or statues of their favourite deity and then moving it around to every area of there shop. It also used to clean bad odours. I hate the smell of fresh paint and am known to burn hole packets. |
